This painting is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Mangkaja Arts which states: 'This is the headdress for the Kurtal dance. Kurtal is a jila (waterhole) in the desert country to the south east of Fitzroy Crossing. The dance is for the snake living in the jila.'
