Catalogue text

This work is accompanied by a certificate from Warlayirti Artists which states: ‘Boxer has painted a stretch of his country called Kitjingarra, which is along the central sections of Sturt Creek, or Purkitji, north of Balgo. The central cross design depicts the main channel of Purkitji as it runs through this country, while the numerous smaller channels are also shown, draining into the main channel.'

The subject matter of Boxer Milner's unique geometrical works are the clouds, rainbows and temporary creeks and tributaries of his country in the area around Purkitji (Sturt Creek) located at the top end of the Canning Stock Route in Western Australia.
