Catalogue text

A drawing by Friend of this sculpture is illustrated in The Cosmic Turtle.

Friend writes, 'In the nineteen-fifties when Tjokot was still fairly young, he used to descend the thirty-mile journey to Sanur on a bicycle loaded with his wares. And on arrival he would be welcomed by hundreds of children, old men and women, laughing shouting, crowding eagerly around, as though he were the pied piper of Hamlin.' 1.
