Catalogue text
This work is accompanied by a copy of a certificate of authenticity from Short Street Gallery which states: 'This ilma shows the cycle of the Magabala. It refers to a song that is performed to ensure that the Magabala is abundant. This food is important to all people living on the peninsula and around Broome. The round parts represent seeds, while the triangular shapes are flowers, while the long shape at the bottom is the fully ripe fruit.'
